When painting a commissioned portrait, the client and the artist enter into a creative partnership where both have a hand in the final work of art.  This process can be exciting and rewarding for both, provided they communicate well and can visualize the finished painting before brush is put to canvas. 

 

For my part, with the help of a myriad of reference photos and preparatory oil sketches, you are kept appraised of the process every step of the way.  I'm not sure my constitution could stand the surprise unveiling, pulling off the sheet and saying "Ta da!"
